Trump said the inauguration ceremony will be held indoors in order to protect attendees and staff.
Donald Trump has said that his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, 2025, will be held inside the Capitol rotunda due to the harsh weather conditions in Washington.
The weather forecast for Monday reveals that there will be extreme cold just as the area has witnessed constant freezing conditions in January.
President-Elect Trump said the decision to hold the inauguration indoors is best because he does not “want to see people hurt.”
“It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th (in any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!),” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social network.

Trump also disclosed that the 20,000-capacity Capital One Arena, which is home to American sports franchises Washington Capitals (NHL) and Wizards (NBA), will host a viewing party.
He also plans to join the crowd during the inaugural parade after the inauguration ceremony, as other events are expected to go on as planned.
This is not the first time the inauguration of an American president will be held inside the Capitol rotunda.
In 1985, President Ronald Reagan was sworn in at the rotunda due to extreme cold weather.
Trump, who won the November 5, 2024, presidential election, will take over from President Joe Biden.
