During his New Year speech, Obi urged the government to take decisive actions towards fixing the economy and urged the president to tour the states of Nigeria rather than abroad.
Peter Obi has said that his New Year message has “led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me.”
During his New Year message, Obi said the country is still moving backwards and urged the president to take decisive steps towards transforming the economy.
Obi also told President Tinubu to tour the states of Nigeria and get a firsthand feeling of the plight of Nigerians and act towards solving the problems.
The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential election candidate also lamented about the difficulty of being in opposition to the government and said people avoid him, and his businesses are being crippled by the government.

In a post on X, Peter Obi said he has “received all sorts of messages” since his New Year broadcast but singled out “one Mr. Felix Morka,” who he says “has gone further to accuse me of ‘crossing the line’ and has warned that I will face the consequences.”
“I find it necessary to share this message again and urge everyone who has not seen it to.
“If I have truly crossed the line, I invite anyone to point it out, as I remain committed to upholding decorum.”
Despite the alleged threat to life, Obi has vowed that he will not “be silenced in my resolve to speak truthfully, especially as our nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices.”
He also warned that Nigeria is “increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed.”
Felix Morka is a spokesperson of the ruling All Progressive Congress and is yet to respond to Peter Obi’s accusations.
