Biden has admitted to performing poorly at the debate.
President Joe Biden performed woefully in the first 2024 American presidential debate against strong rival and former President Donald Trump on June 27 and has publicly admitted to having a bad night on June 27.
During a rally after the debate, Biden told supporters that he might have lost his debating prowess due to age but has not lost the ability to tell the truth.
“I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth,” President Biden said to a cheering crowd.
While pressure mounted on the Democratic Party to drop Biden as a candidate for the election, his friend and close ally, former President Barack Obama, voiced support for Biden, who served as his vice president for eight years at the White House.

Despite Biden’s poor performance during the debate, Democrats have continued to do damage control, and no other person than President Biden has led the charge in that regard.
He admitted to feeling sleepy during the 90-minute debate due to fatigue from recent travels.
“I decided to travel around the world a couple of times… shortly before the debate… I didn’t listen to my staff… and then I almost fell asleep on stage,” Biden said during a campaign fundraiser in McLean, Virginia, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Biden dismissed his “almost fell asleep” statement as an excuse and described it as an explanation to the American people who have cast doubt about his age.
Prior to the debate, President Biden flew to France for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in the first week of June before flying to Los Angeles on June 15 for a big fundraiser and spending a week at Camp David to prepare for the debate.
Despite the explanation, critics believe the 81-year-old American president is past his prime and should step down for a younger candidate.
