Netanyahu says Israel is prepared for scenarios outside Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that Israel is “preparing for scenarios outside Gaza” as fears of a retaliatory strike from Iran loom.
Recall that the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, was hit with an airstrike that killed a senior Iranian army general and six other soldiers on April 1, 2024.
Iran accused Israel of carrying out the attack and said it reserved the right to retaliate.
Israel has not accepted responsibility for the strike, but the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has vowed that Israel “must be punished” for the air strike.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned Ayatollah’s comments while addressing broadcasters on Thursday, insisting that they were “unacceptable” and reaffirming British support for Israel.
Israeli troops and warplanes have started an overnight operation in Gaza, which it says is aimed at destroying the infrastructure of Palestinian groups that are armed.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated that they are “prepared to meet all of the security needs of the State of Israel.”
“We are in challenging times. We are in the middle of the war in Gaza that continues at full force, at the same time we continue our nonstop efforts to return our hostages,” Netanyahu said during a visit to the Tel Nof air force base in southern Israel.
“But we are also preparing for scenarios of challenges from other arenas. We established a simple principle: Whoever hurts us, we will hurt them.
“We are prepared to meet all of the security needs of the State of Israel, both defensively and offensively.”
Analysts fear that a retaliatory strike from Iran might further escalate the war between Israel and Hamas and disrupt the chances of a ceasefire.
