Buhari asked Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu.
Former president Muhammadu Buhari has said President Bola Tinubu has “done very well” since he took over office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.
Buhari made his remark during a meeting with the comptroller-general and the management team of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in his residence in Daura on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
He described governing Nigeria as a tough job and appealed to citizens to endure the economic hardship accompanying President Tinubu’s policies and support the government.
“I thank you very much for coming. I very much appreciate it. I thought Tinubu has done very well. Nigeria is so complex. Really, there isn’t much anybody can do,” Buhari said.
President Buhari ruled for eight years and has come under heavy criticism over his economic policies, which led to the devaluation of the naira and plunged Nigeria into recession.

Insecurity also worsened during the administration of President Buhari as banditry and kidnapping got on the rise. Some critics say he is the worst president in the history of Nigeria.
President Tinubu’s government got off on a tough note by removing fuel subsidies, which in turn brought about inflation and several forms of economic hardship.
The Nigerian currency has lost its value against the dollar as the government has made moves to unify the exchange rate.
Nigeria has also been plagued by insecurity under Tinubu’s watch, and cases of corruption have made citizens loose hope over promises of a better future if they endure the current economic hardship.
