Fury believes he can add to Joshua’s pains after the latter suffered back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk.
World heavyweight (WBC) champion, Tyson Fury, has cancelled the highly anticipated British heavyweight title bout between him and Anthony Joshua over the latter’s failure to meet up with the negotiations deadline he set. Fury called out the British-Nigerian boxer after his second loss to Ukrainian fighter, Oleksandr Usyk, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and made a 60/40 offer for an all-British heavyweight title bout in December.
Joshua and his management team accepted Fury’s offer, and negotiations commenced. Negotiations would stall due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The slow pace of the contractual negotiations would see Fury grow impatient, giving Joshua and his management team 5pm on Monday, September 26, 2022 as deadline or forget about the fight. Fury and Joshua’s management teams could not conclude agreements for the fight on Monday and Fury carried out his threat.
Despite Fury’s cancellation of the match, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, insisted that talks were still cordial.
“We’re trying to get it done by today. We’re working very hard to get it over the line.If everyone agreed everything, it would be a huge undertaking, but we could do it that way…Tyson has told me what he wants. They’ve had the contract for ten days and he’s lost patience with it.”

Hearn further explained that there hasn’t been any talk of deadline between both parties and expressed confidence that paper works will be concluded soon.
“There were various positive calls today between promoters & broadcasters who are all working hard to finalise the fight – there has been no talk of a deadline between the parties, but we are moving at pace to try & conclude the deal.”

Joshua will be looking to revive his career with a win over Fury after back-to-back defeats against Usyk.
