The pair has established presence in the African entertainment scene.
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, and Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, simply known as Simi, have been announced as the new judges for the season seven of popular TV talent and reality show, Nigerian Idol.
D’Banj and Simi were announced as judges of the upcoming season at a media launch on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. The duo will join Obi Asika as replacements for judges of the previous season, Seyi Shay and DJ Sose.
While commenting on their new roles as judges of the Nigerian Idol, D’banj and Simi promised to compliment the proficiency of Asika and offer words of improvement for contestants that will be at the audition and artists that will make it to the grand finale.
Also, the host for season six of the show, Ik Osakioduwa, is retained as the host for the upcoming season.
Season six winner, Kingdom Kroseide, got the grand prize of 30 million naira and 20 million naira worth of other gifts after he defeated Francis Atela at the grand finale on July 11, 2021.
It had earlier been reported that about 4000 contestants participated in the virtual audition for the upcoming Nigerian Idol season. The number has been streamlined to 500, which will be pruned down to 250. In the end, only 50 participants will make it to the theatre.
While reacting to the turnout for the audition, Boluwatife Adedugbe, Brand Manager, Beverage and Bakery, Rite Foods Limited, stated that the number is impressive and also commended the contestants for their confidence to start a music career with Bigi.
The grand finale of Nigerian Idol season seven will be aired live on Sunday, May 22, 2022, and the winner will go home with 50 million worth of prizes.
