Ayra Starr Makes 2022 Shazam List

Afropop singer and Mavin Records artist Ayra Starr started the New Year on a bright note after making the 2022 Shazam list. The announcement was made public on Tuesday,  January 4, 2022 by Shazam. The platform released its predictions for 2022 playlist and highlighted four other artists alongside Ayra Starr that are expected to make the waves in 2022. They include Danny Lux, Lyn Lapid, Sad Night Dynamite and StayC.

Shazam in its excerpt noted:  “Ayra Starr’s rise this year was largely mounted on her breakout track “Bloody Samaritan,” which had its first Shazam in Lagos. It was released as the lead single of the Nigerian singer-songwriter’s debut album 19 & Dangerous, but took on a life of its own as listeners were drawn in by an alluring violin melody that drops into contagious Afropop magic.

“An undeniable jam, “Bloody Samaritan” was the most Shazamed song by a local female artist in Nigeria this year—an impressive accomplishment considering it came out only in July.

The list was compiled by Shazam’s remarkable prognosis algorithm and data, and hand-picked by Apple Music’s global editorial team, whose 50-track selection ritual features songs that show timely pointers of prospective growth.  Shazam also features songs with rapid and constant impetus in its activities. This includes discovery in additional countries.

Shazam’s playlist greatly mirrors a commendable multinational and eclectic crowd.  It features emerging artists from 25 countries that depicts seventeen genres, from regional mexicano and hip-hop hybrids to mandopop.
