Award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has given her fans something to cheer about after releasing her first fiction work since the release of Americanah in 2013. Her latest release, Zikora, is a short story which tells the tale of a Nigerian lawyer in Washington, D.C, who was dumped by her partner after learning of her pregnancy state. Chimamanda captured the struggles of Zikora as she is confronted with the challenge of dealing through life after being abandoned by the love of her life in such crucial moment, as well as having to deal with the presence of her high demanding mother who steps in to help her journey into motherhood.
Chimamanda who lost her father earlier this year, had been thrilling her fans with readings and special discussions on her Instagram page. The short story (Zikora) was released yesterday, October 27, 2020, and forms part of Amazon’s Original Stories (download is free for Prime members and subscribers of Kindle Unlimited, while it is available for purchase for non-subscribers). The MacArthur genius now joins the likes of Roxane Gay, Cheryl Strayed, Curtis Sittenfeld, Caroline Kepnes, Alice Hoffman, Dean Koontz, and more, on the list of writers who publish short fiction exclusively for Amazon.
