Speed Darlington says he was targeted by assassins while leaving a nightclub in Lagos.
Singer and social media influencer Speed Darlington, who is also known as “Akpi,” has said that he was shot after leaving a nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos State, in the early hours of Monday, January 27, 2025.
The controversial singer posted a video of his car, which was hit by bullets, on social media and lamented that he hadn’t posted anything relating to his time behind bars and that assassins are after him.
Recall that Speed Darlington was held in detention for over a month after Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy accused him of defamation for making a post on social media and alleging that Burna’s glory on the global stage was linked to same-sex affairs with music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

“There must be truth in what I am saying,” Speed Darlington said in the video that he posted on Monday.
In his comment section, Darlington questioned, “Bro, is this necessary? You try to take my life… really?”
The police are yet to make a public statement on the issue as the public expects an investigation to be carried out to identify the assassins.
Speed Darlington did not also indicate interest in the police investigating the attempts made on his life.
Recall that he has been at loggerheads with the Nigerian police over unlawful detention despite a court order granting him bail.
