Trump said Bishop Budde is a radical leftist who is a “Trump hater” and is not very “smart” or good at her job.
President Donald Trump has slammed an Episcopal bishop for pleading for the plight of the LGBTQ community and illegal immigrants in the United States.
Right Reverend Mariann Budde, who is the first female bishop of the Diocese of Washington, made the plea to Trump during the interfaith prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday morning.
“In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country, who are scared now,” Bishop Budde started.
“There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and Independent families, some who fear for their lives.
“And the people, the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labour in poultry farms and meatpacking plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants, and work the night shifts in hospitals.
“They may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.
“They pay taxes and are good neighbours.
“They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, gurdwaras, and temples.”
After the service, President Trump was questioned about the bishop’s plea, and he said the service was not “good” and noted that the organizers “can do better.”

Later on, Trump lashed out at the bishop in a post on his Truth Social network, describing her as “a radical left hardline Trump hater.”
“She brought her church into the world of politics in a very ungracious way,” Trump continued.
“She was nasty in tone and not compelling or smart.”
He further described the service as “very boring and uninspiring” and described the bishop as “not very good at her job,” calling for a public “apology” for her statements.
