Speed Darlington has been in detention since his arrest on November 27, 2024.
Content creator and singer Speed Darlington has been granted bail by an Abuja court, ending his detention since he was arrested on November 27, 2024, in Owerri, Imo State, at an event.
Darlington, who is also known as “Akpi,” was first arrested by the Nigerian police in October after Grammy-winning singer wrote a petition accusing him of defamation.
The content creator had alleged in a post on social media that Burna Boy was engaged in same-sex activities with detained music mogul Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy.

Darlington also alleged that Burna Boy’s rise to stardom on the global stage was down to his sexual activities with Combs.
After his release, the content creator travelled to the US but was rearrested by the police when he returned back to Nigeria as the police accused him of failing to return for further questioning in the case.
Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju criticized the police for the handling of the case and described Burna Boy as an oppressor.
Fans of the content creator also called out Burna Boy for his detention until Monday morning, December 23, 2024, when his lawyer, Stan Alieke, disclosed that he has been granted bail.
“Akpi has been granted bail by the court,” Stan Alieke said in an Instagram stories post.
Speed Darlington is known for continuing with verbal attacks against his foes regardless of the consequences.
It remains to be seen if he will cease to make accusations against Burna Boy.
