Chidimma Adetshina blames the mental trauma she was subjected to for her decision to quit.
Chidimma Adetshina has decided to quit beauty pageantry despite finishing as first runner-up at the Miss Universe contest.
The 23-year-old model had a rough ride to stardom after withdrawing from the Miss Universe South Africa pageantry over xenophobic attacks, which led to questions surrounding her identity despite being born and raised in South Africa to a Nigerian father.
She contested for Miss Universe Nigeria and won before finishing in second place on the global stage to Miss Universe Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig.
After her success on the world stage, Chidimma was tipped to fill the shoes of legendary model Agbani Darego, who won the Miss World beauty pageant in 2001, but she has now quashed those hopes as she has set her sights on other ventures.

The Miss Universe Africa and Oceania blamed the mental ordeal she went through as responsible for her decision to quit at such an early age.
“Honestly, I am done with pageantry,” she told Silverbird during an interview.
“It was really a traumatic experience for me.
“People don’t really get to understand how I felt; I was really down, and I didn’t want to do Miss Universe.
“But I’m really done with pageantry, and I want to focus on myself and who I am and to further my education as well.”
She hopes that there is “something in store” for her after ending pageantry life but is glad that she “left on a really great note.”
Recall that Chidimma Adetshina once expressed interest in competing in Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.
If she ventures into the world of reality TV, she would join the likes of former Miss Nigeria Beauty Tukura, as pageants that have featured in the show.
