Donald Trump officially became the first former or serving President of the United States to be convicted of a crime after a New York jury found him guilty of all 34-count charges relating to falsification of business records on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
The Republican Party candidate in the 2024 US presidential election was tried over an alleged hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from going public with her alleged sexual affair with Trump.
Trump and members of the Republican Party have condemned the verdict of the court and accused Democrats of influencing the judiciary to declare Trump guilty and distract his campaign.

Former President Trump, who constantly called out the judge during the trials, called the verdict a “disgrace” and said it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
President Joe Biden has hailed the verdict, stating that it proved that “no one is above the law,” as he urged Americans not to vote for Trump in the presidential election billed for November 5, 2024.
Trump faces the likelihood of going to jail when he is sentenced on July 11, but legal experts say he is more likely to be fined.
The outcome of the trial seemed not surprising to the Republican candidate, who before the verdict declared the process “shameful.”
He has repeatedly told supporters that the charges are a political witch hunt.
“They want to take away my freedom because I would never let them take away your freedom; it’s very simple,” he once said to a crowd during a rally.
“They want to silence me because I will never let them silence you.
“And I am the only one that can save this nation because, you know, they are not coming after me; they are coming after you, and I just happen to be standing in their way, and I will never be moved.”
President Trump lost to current US President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election but has vowed to win the White House back for a final four-year term.
