Biden and Trump are expected to argue against each other in a closed debate.
US President Joe Biden and Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump, have accepted an invitation from CNN for a presidential debate on June 27, 2024.
Recall that former President Trump constantly called out Joe Biden for a debate, and the Democrats have expressed skepticism over the possibility of debating him.
President Biden finally agreed to a debate under the condition that there would be no audience present, which has broken a longstanding tradition in the history of US presidential election debates.
CNN said the debate would be held in their Atlanta studio and added that a moderator would be announced soon.

Georgia was one of the tightly contested states during the 2020 presidential election that brought Biden to power.
Trump and Biden also accepted another invitation from ABC for another debate slated to take place on September 10, 2024, barely two months before the presidential election.
Another vice presidential debate was proposed for July after the national convention of the Republican Party.
Both candidates have been consistent with shading each other on social media.
“As you said: anywhere, any time, any place,” Biden said after accepting to debate the former president on national television.
Trump described Biden as the “worst debater” he has debated against and posted that he is “Ready and Willing to Debate Crooked Joe at the two proposed times in June and September.”
President Biden accepted to debate his main rival under strict rules to avoid interruptions, while Trump argued for more than two debates in larger venues “for excitement purposes.”
The timing of the debate is crucial to the presidential race, as the first debate would take place after the end of Donald Trump’s criminal trial in New York on June 15.
