Peter Obi is wary of the insecurity challenges confronting Nigeria.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has expressed worry over the rate of killings related to insecurity in Nigeria, insisting that countries at war do not record the same number of casualties as Nigeria.
In a post on his X page, the former Anambra State governor revealed that he visited the Oba community in Anambra State after the “horrific killing of people in a nightclub.”
Peter Obi also described the Christmas Eve attacks on communities in Plateau State as a “mindless act of terrorism.”
“Even some countries in open declared wars have not experienced this level of insecurity, violence, and loss of human lives,” Obi lamented.
“Let us continue to pray for our nation that God will heal our land.”
He further praised security agencies for their efforts in handling insecurity across the federation and condoned families that have lost their loved ones.

In a series of coordinated attacks by armed herdsmen in not less than 12 communities in Plateau State, including Barkin Ladi and Bokkos, on Christmas Eve, 162 deaths have been recorded so far and at least 1,000 injured.
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killings and “directed security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.”
He also ordered the “immediate mobilization of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.”
Fighting insecurity was part of the campaign promises President Tinubu made to Nigerians, and critics have become wary of his ability to deal with the security crisis that he inherited from ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
