Netanyahu says soldiers on the frontlines want Israel to keep fighting.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to intensify attacks on Gaza. Netanyahu, while meeting with his party members, said he visited Gaza on Monday and noted that Israel’s military campaign in the area was “not close to being over.’’
The Israeli Prime Minister’s comments come days after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken advised Israel to lessen the intensity of attacks on Gaza.
Information from the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says about 20,674 Palestinians have been killed since Israeli bombardments in Gaza commenced after Hamas hit Israel on October 7, 2023. Hamas says most victims are women and children.

Netanyahu told his Likud party members that troops on the frontlines have urged the government to continue fighting.
“They all asked me only one thing: that we don’t stop and continue on until the end,’’ Netanyahu said.
“So we don’t stop, we keep fighting and we deepen the fighting in the coming days and it will be a long fight and it is not close to ending.
Reports from Israeli and Arabian media say Egypt is proposing a ceasefire plan between Israel and Hamas.
The ceasefire plan would see a phased release of hostages and a number of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails in the course of a month and a half, which would also see the suspension of Israel’s offensive.
It will be recalled that a temporary truce negotiated by Qatar was previously reached between Israel and Hamas, which saw the release of some Israeli hostages in Hamas’ captivity and also the release of some Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
Despite the tensions, Israel and Hamas have resisted calls from the international community for a ceasefire.
