Being beautiful and self-confident are key to everyone’s dreams in life.
Dear reader, this topic may seem very simplistic and somewhat cliché, but it would be nice to take a moment to think more deeply about it. I chose to write about this topic for two reasons. First and most importantly is the issue of mental health. Having experienced the helplessness of an ailing mental health myself, I have discovered that one of the surest ways out of that hole is to pay more attention to oneself to the point that taking care of yourself in every possible way becomes something that you enjoy doing over everything else.
Secondly, I decided to write about these 5 simple tips because they are a good place to start. In life generally, the importance of how little details and baby steps add up to create a remarkable outcome cannot be understated. Therefore, the expectation is that starting with these 5 things regularly and eventually getting used to them will lead you to notice other areas that you are lacking in and improve on them.
As earlier stated, these are 5 very simple steps. A lot of people do these everyday already and will attest to their efficacy in boosting self-appreciation and self-confidence. Without further ado, I will get into them. I recommend that these tips are done consistently for 6 months in order to sense an improvement in self-appreciation and mental health condition.
Make Your Bed Every Morning
This is probably the most common self-care tip on the internet. But then, it is so for a reason. This has proven to be a very helpful practice in improving the appearance of your personal space as well as in helping you to de-clutter your mind. Additionally, the number of people who don’t actually do it is surprising. Making one’s bed every morning gives a sense of deconstructed or deconstructing chaos, similar to an oasis in a desert or a jewel surrounded by dirt. It becomes a point of focus from which everything else can be envisaged to be better. More so, building it as a habit over time will improve your sense of self-appreciation and cause you to enjoy your space more. For more efficiency, I suggest that you throw in one or two ore de-cluttering practices. For example, take all the clothes off of that one chair in your room (I know you’re smiling now), or, at least, leave them neatly folded. Also, arrange the table in your room. Take all those dirty plates and empty bottles to where they are meant to be. Arrange your shoe organizer.
The Power Of Fragrance
Sweet-smelling bodies and spaces do something to the mind. Essentially, I am admonishing you to be more intentional about smelling nice and making your space to smell nice at all times whether you’re alone or not. Invest in some room sprays/air fresheners or diffusers as well as sweet-smelling body oils or body lotions and butters. As a tip, I would like to add that room sprays/air fresheners go very well with fresh air, open those windows and let some natural air in before spraying your house or room. A fan or air conditioner can also help with that. While a lot of people think that this dissipates the fragrance, I have found that it actually helps to disperse it around the room and also helps it to linger on for sometime. As long as those windows or fans are not left on for too long, you will discover that the mixture of fresh air and fragrance helps your room to feel fresher.
Always Keep Your Nails Clean And Beautiful
I feel like the nails are the part of the body that we see the most everyday and it is important that they always look beautiful. While cleaning the nails regularly reduces exposure to a lot of germs that can be stuck between them, I also believe that keeping the nails aesthetically beautiful at all times go a long way to improve how beautiful and confident you feel. For male readers, I suggest that you invest in a nail file, nail buffer and nail hardener and use them regularly to give your nails that extra shine and elegance. For the ladies, I suggest that you invest in a variety of press-ons and colored nail polishes. I am not a fan of long nails because I don’t know how to manage them. I also don’t consider them practical for everyday tasks but if they make you feel beautiful and you can handle them, have them on by all means. Alternatively, get some short press-ons or paint your nails regularly. This way, your nails will look beautiful each time you look at them, and you will also save yourself the stress of going to the nails salon all the time. However, don’t forget to let your natural nails breathe every now and then and don’t also forget to keep your nails clean when you use press-ons in order to curb the spread of those germs (winks).
Pay Attention To Your Skin
You will be surprised at how much better you will start to feel about yourself when your skin starts to look healthier and better. For me, good skin care does not always have to involve the use of any special or expensive skin enhancement products a good place to start is by maintaining hygiene. Showering at least twice everyday will greatly improve the appearance of your skin. Follow that up with a good body lotion or moisturizer that smells nice, as well as a simple face moisturizer or serum. Additionally, try to pay attention to how seasonal changes affect your skin. Figure out what to do when your skin is too dry or when the weather is too hot. Also feel free to embellish this ritual a little bit more as time goes on. Now, imagine how well it will go with the practice of smelling nice all the time. You are getting there! Always remember, it is not just about how your skin looks, this also means that you are paying more attention to yourself, which is a good way to feel beautiful and boost your confidence.
The Universe Is Mental: All Is Mind
The whole point of improving your mental health is to effectively re-wire your mind and how you see yourself. That purpose will be defeated if I don’t include in this piece an actual routine to consciously achieve that. In this light, I will admonish you to take out some time to actually do whatever will help you lighten the burden on your mind. Be it crying, watching TV, writing, pacing around, staring at thin air, laying in bed doing nothing, taking out time for self-care or going off social media, always make sure that you do something everyday that helps you to feel lighter.
What do you think about the above tips? Have you followed any or all of them regularly in the past? What were your results? Please tell me in the comment section below and cheers to a better mental health and improved beauty.
