Tinubu has been travelling around Nigeria over his presidential ambition.
Presidential aspirant and national leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has allegedly left the country.
Tinubu’s whereabouts raised dust on Thursday, January 27, as he (Tinubu) was absent from the official launching of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (ABAT) movement working committees held in Lagos on Wednesday.
However, a report by Punch says that an anonymous source hinted that “he (Tinubu) travelled abroad to rest after going around the country for consultations. He travelled to rest and strategize.”
There is still no official report as to where and why the presidential aspirant jetted out of the country.
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the past few weeks have seen the APC leader meet with political juggernauts and big guns across different regions of the country making wide consultations about his “age-long’’ presidential dreams.
It will be recalled that after his arrival from the US during a previous trip abroad, Tinubu paid a visit to Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, at his residence in Abuja. Although the reason of the meeting was not disclosed, many believed that it might not be disconnected from the 2023 election.
On January 10, Tinubu ‘categorically’ declared his intention to contest for the country’s presidency in 2023 in Abuja after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
In a rather swift move, on January 20, Tinubu visited former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger State, notifying him about his presidential ambition. Shortly after, he extended his visit to the Executive Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello.
Tinubu spent a considerable time battling with his ailing health condition throughout 2021. While away in London, many of his political associates and bigwigs including President Muhammadu Buhari paid him a visit to show solidarity.
