Recent surge in COVID-19 cases has forced the Canadian government to impose stricter rules.
Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun Ibrahim, popularly known as Wizkid, has postponed his Made In Lagos, Canada Tour due to Covid-19.
The Grammy Awards nominee made this known on Wednesday, 19th January 2022 via his Instagram handle. Wizkid stated that he will no longer be performing in Canada due to Covid-19 restrictions in the country.
“Due to the existing and developing public health restriction measures being introduced by the Canadian government, I will no longer be able to perform my Canadian shows in January 2022,” Starboy noted.
However, the ‘Essence’ crooner promised to reschedule the tour as soon as possible.
“I’m looking forward to returning as soon as possible,” he added.
The tour was originally scheduled to start in January 2021, but the surge in positive COVID-19 cases has forced the 2021 Apple Music African Artist of the Year award winner to postpone the tour.
Made In Lagos tour in the US and UK sold out arenas and had top music stars come live on stage.
The album “Made In Lagos”, was released in October 2020 and has received several international recognitions, topping music charts in different countries. Less than a year after its release, the album recorded more than one billion streams on different platforms. Also, the hit track from the album, “Essence” featuring Tems was the first Nigerian song on Billboard Hot 100, and the remix with Justin Bieber made it to the top spot on Billboard world’s digital song chart.
Wizkid rose to the limelight in 2011 with his hit track “Holla at Your Boy”. Since then, he has released four studio albums; “Superstar”, “Ayo”, “Sounds from the Other Side”, and Made in Lagos.
Also, the 31-year-old superstar has collaborated with top American music stars such as Beyonce and Drake.
