Osimhen is expected back in Italy for a medical examination on his injury.
Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, is expected to return to Italy soon after Napoli announced his recovery from COVID-19. This was contained in a tweet from Napoli’s official Twitter handle, today, January 9, 2022.
Remember Osimhen had tested positive for COVID-19 last month and could not return to Naples in Italy for medical examination on his cheekbone injury. He had been scheduled to undergo medical examination on his cheekbone to ascertain the possibility of returning earlier from his injury which Napoli’s doctors had earlier claimed will rule him out for three months.
He was, however, expected to play with a protective mask, thus, his name was included in the list of the invited players for the Super Eagles that will compete at the AFCON in Cameroon. He was later dropped from the team when he tested positive for COVID-19 at the end of last month.
Napoli has now announced via their official Twitter handle that the 23-year-old forward has recovered and he is on his way to Naples.
“Victor is negative for COVID and will return to Italy in the coming hours,” the tweet reads.
Upon his return to Italy, Victor Osimhen is expected to undergo a medical examination and he could be available for selection in their next league match. Napoli will face Sampdoria later today (Sunday) in a league match and their next opponents are Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, 13th January 2022, and Bologna in a league match on January 17, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria has arrived in Cameroon and all the invited players are expressing high hope of bringing home the AFCON title. The team defeated a local football club in Cameroon, Cotton Sport 2:0 in a warm-up match on Friday. Goals from Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze in both halves secured the win for the team.
