Donald Trump has hailed the Nigerian government for suspension of the operation of Twitter in the West African country. In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, the former president of the United States opined that ‘’More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech.’’ Trump went on to regret not taking the same action during his time as US President.
Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. It will be recalled that Trump was suspended from Twitter during his time as President owing to accusations from the social media platform that his tweets promoted violence and engineered the Capitol invasion. On Friday, June 4, 2021, Facebook disclosed that it had banned Trump for two years (from Facebook and Instagram) starting from January 7, 2021.
